Little scientists, engineers and mathematicians will have the opportunity to explore their passions when the Maryland STEM Festival returns this fall. This statewide celebration of all things STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) will kick off on Friday, Oct. 15, and run through Nov. 14.

Through free hands-on activities, lab tours, talks, expos, exhibits and performances, kids get the chance to learn about the educational, cultural and financial impact of science in Maryland. This year’s theme focuses on health and wellness in honor of our health care heroes.

The festival will feature more than 200 events covering topics such as how health care professionals battled COVID-19, robotics and technology in health care, the development of vaccines, a bilingual Hispanic STEM night, minorities and women in biotech, fitness and conditioning, emergency medicine and mental health.

This year, the festival will be a mix of in-person and virtual events held at local libraries, schools, museums and more.

Participating organizations include AstraZenexa, Johnson & Johnson, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, Lockheed Martin, NASA, National Institute of Health, the Maryland Zoo and the University of Maryland.
