Welcome to Summer in the Country 2026!

Get ready for a summer filled with discovery, friendship, and fun at Summer in the Country (SITC) at Glenelg Country School! Serving campers from Pre-K through 8th grade, with a Counselor in Training (CIT) program for 9th and 10th graders, SITC offers a welcoming, engaging environment where children and teens can grow, explore, and make lasting summer memories.

At SITC, no two days are exactly the same. Our programs blend creativity, movement, learning, and play to create a balanced and joyful camp experience — one that campers look forward to all year long.

A Camp for Every Age and Interest

Summer in the Country offers a wide range of camp options designed to meet campers where they are developmentally while encouraging them to try new things. Our Pre-K and Lower School camps focus on playful exploration, routine, and social development, while our Upper School programs offer increased independence, challenge, and choice.

Campers can choose from traditional day camps, sports camps, specialty camps, and enrichment programs, all led by experienced counselors and instructors who are passionate about working with children. From athletics and swimming to art, science, games, and imaginative play, our programs are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster friendships.

For our older campers, the Counselor in Training (CIT) program for 9th and 10th graders provides a meaningful leadership experience. CITs learn responsibility, teamwork, and communication skills while assisting camp staff and gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

Families also have the option to add Extended Day care, providing additional flexibility before and after the core camp day.

A Day in the Life at SITC

Each day begins with a warm welcome as campers arrive and connect with their counselors and peers. Morning meetings set expectations, review schedules, and establish a positive tone for the day.

Throughout the day, campers rotate through a variety of age-appropriate indoor and outdoor activities, including games, creative projects, group challenges, and for many camps, daily swim time. Our pool program is closely supervised by certified lifeguards and trained camp staff to ensure safety while keeping water activities fun and refreshing.

Snack breaks and rest periods are built into the schedule, giving campers time to recharge and socialize. Counselors emphasize inclusion, cooperation, and encouragement, helping every camper feel supported and successful.

As the day comes to a close, campers wrap up activities, reflect on their favorite moments, and prepare for dismissal — often already excited for the next day’s adventures.

Safety, Structure, and Community

Camper safety and well-being are at the heart of everything we do at SITC. Staff receive comprehensive training in supervision, emergency preparedness, and camper care, and camp nurses are on campus daily. Clear routines and consistent expectations help create a structured environment where campers feel secure and confident.

Equally important is the sense of community we build. Campers are encouraged to be respectful, kind, and inclusive, while staff model positive behavior and help foster meaningful connections.

A Summer to Remember

Summer in the Country is more than a camp, it’s a place where friendships grow, confidence builds, and joyful summer moments come to life. Whether your child is exploring new interests, strengthening skills, or stepping into leadership through the CIT program, SITC offers an experience that makes every summer unforgettable.

We can’t wait to welcome your family to Summer in the Country 2026 ,where every day is an adventure!
