There’s a new way for kids in West Baltimore to stay active, thanks to the opening of a new Planet Fitness location at the Baltimore Ravens Boys & Girls Club at Hilton Recreation Center. The mini Planet Fitness is described as a Judgment Free Zone where youth members ages 13 and older can exercise without fear of judgment from their peers.

The Judgment Free Zone includes cardio, strength and other exercise equipment. This installation was made possible thanks to a partnership between the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore (BGCMB) and Ohana Growth Partners (OGP), which serves as Planet Fitness’ franchisee.

“When we heard that the new Boys & Girls Club would be designed as a place for youth to learn, lead and thrive and move, and that the Baltimore Ravens, Bisciotti Family Foundation and so many other amazing partners were getting involved, we knew this was something monumental and needed to be part of,” said OGP President Justin Drummond.

OGP and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Baltimore have a long history of collaboration. BGCMB often hosts wellness days at OGP clubs, and both organizations have been sponsoring over 350 children a year to attend an Orioles game for the past four years. OGP also supports BGCMB’s Passport to Manhood program, which mentors boys ages 8 to 14.

“The new fitness space positively impacts young people here in the Boys & Girls Club, providing them access to build their physical fitness and help them on their journey to be active for life,” said Andre Fountain, Director of External Affairs & Strategic Initiatives at BGCMB.
