Four Baltimore School Leaders Among This Year’s ‘Most Admired CEOs’

Every year, The Daily Record honors talented business CEOs, higher education leaders and nonprofit executive directors.

Known as Maryland’s Most Admired CEOs, these individuals are selected after a thorough vetting process that includes community service, professional accomplishments and letters of recommendation submitted by co-workers, board members and community leaders that actively showcase the CEO’s leadership and vision.

This year, the Baltimore publication named Most Admired CEOs in nine categories. Higher education winners included leaders from four Baltimore schools:

• Dr. Barbara D. Nazelrod, The Catholic High School of Baltimore
• Mark R. Ginsberg, Ph.D., Towson University
• David K. Wilson, Morgan State University
• Dr. Marylou Yam, Notre Dame of Maryland University

The Catholic High School of Baltimore was the only secondary school awarded this year. President Barbara D. Nazelrod served the school for two decades, making her the longest tenured head of any secondary school in the Archdiocese of Baltimore—one of only two girls’ Catholic high schools in Baltimore City, according to the school.

“Her commitment to ensuring a quality education for young women in the Franciscan Tradition has enabled Catholic High to flourish,” reads a school announcement.

The three other winners for higher education represent Baltimore universities. Read more about Towson University President Mark Ginsberg on pg. 20.

Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, managing director of The Daily Record describes this year’s winners as having a positive impact on others through their companies’ success and being trendsetters who empower those who work with them.

“They are good listeners who are also committed to mentoring the next generation of leaders,” she says in a news release.
