Enjoy all Maryland has to offer this Fourth of July with parades, fireworks, and of course, family and friends. Celebrate our nation’s birthday with live music, food and fun at one of these great events. All are scheduled for Thursday, July 4.

Towson’s 4 on the 4th
Come out to Towson for a 4-mile run or bring the kids for the 1776 Family Fun Run. Join the Towson Tigers for the pre-race warm-up program at 7:45 a.m. The route travels through downtown Towson and the race finishes just in time for runners to watch the Fourth of July parade near the courthouse. Proceeds from the event benefit the Towson Chamber of Commerce.  Downtown Towson, 8:15 a.m. $35 advanced registration, $40 same day; Family Fun Run $15 advanced registration, $20 same day. towson4onthe4th.com.

4th of July on the Farm
Head to the country for some good
old-fashioned fun at the Carroll County Farm Museum. Join the fun starting at 3 p.m. for this patriotic extravaganza featuring games, food and farmyard exploration. 4th of July in Annapolis
With its fire engines and floats and marching bands, a parade may be your favorite way to spend Independence Day. Enjoy all that, plus the food scene in downtown Annapolis and a concert by the U.S. Naval Academy at 8 p.m. Fireworks are at 9:15 p.m. Downtown Annapolis, 6:30 p.m. Free. visitannapolis.org

Bel Air’s 4th of July Celebration
Celebrate from dawn to dark at this town-wide day of fun. Breakfast on chocolate or blueberry pancakes at Bel Air High School for a delicious start to your holiday. Then participate in one of the flag-raising ceremonies throughout the morning. The day also promises horseshoe pitching at Rockfield Park, a water balloon toss and watermelon eating contest at Shamrock Park and a bicycle rodeo at Bel Air Elementary School. Ports America Chesapeake 4th of July Celebration
Bring your family and friends to celebrate the Fourth of July with an entire city at this patriotic celebration at Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. Listen to classic and popular hit songs performed by the U.S. Navy Band Commodores. Enjoy fabulous food and fun shopping before the fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. It’s the biggest fireworks display in the city. Rain date: July 5. Inner Harbor, 7-10 p.m. Free. promotionandarts.org
