What is the hardest part about juggling both motherhood and your career?
Clearly, making time for self-care is a challenge but so necessary. I have to take care of myself so I can continue to care of others. This is the mission for the spa: to care for the caregivers.
What makes trying to balance both easier?
Amira is my compass. She is most important; her schedule is most important. I build what I want to achieve with and for her first and then the rest has to fit.
What do you love about being a parent?
I love watching her grow and develop, get confident, master something and do something today that she couldn’t do yesterday. I remember thinking when she lifted her head on her own the first time, “Now you’ve got it little girl; you’re going to be just fine.”
What’s your biggest parenting fail?
Not being independently wealthy so I could be a stay-at-home mom!
How has your family been handling the pandemic?
We got a lot of family moments that I would have missed or not been able to make happen if we did not have the built-in slowdown. The pandemic wiped a lot of things off my schedule so I could turn my compass back toward Amira.
What’s the one thing you hope your daughter learns from you and your career?
I probably won’t know the answer to this question until Amira is much older and she tells me what she has learned from me and my career. Whatever she learns, I hope she does one step better.

Vacation Spot: For me, it’s a toss-up between Martha’s Vineyard and Barbados. Amira says Barbados.
