All age groups will benefit from having the basics, like scissors, glue, pencils and good heavyweight (80- 90-pound) drawing paper. Here are some other recommended starter supplies for each age group.
Ages 3-5
- ‘Chubby’ paint brushes (for small hands!)
- Crayons
- Jack Richeson tempera cakes
- Kwik Stix paint pens
- Construction paper
- Adaptive scissors
Ages 6-8
- Liquid tempera paint (Crayola or Sax Versatemp)
- Big Kid’s Choice brushes
- Watercolor pans (Prang or Crayola brand)
- Any materials that can be dipped and stamped or scraped (LEGO pieces, cardboard tubes, bottle caps, forks, etc.)
- Soft pastels/charcoal
Ages 9-11
- Soft pastels/charcoal
- Sketching/drawing set
- Watercolor (Prang or Crayola brand)
- Watercolor brushes and paper
- Micron ink pens
