The Baltimore Orioles and Medstar Health are teaming up to help save lives at the Warehouse at Camden Yards today.
The American Red Cross is urging Baltimoreans to participate in a blood drive. For parents looking to set an example for their kids to give back, giving blood is an easy way.
From now though 3 p.m. on the sixth floor of the Warehouse of Camden Yards (333 West Camden St., Baltimore, MD 21201), donors can help recover the critically low levels of blood supply from this summer.
Donors with O positive, O negative and B negative blood types are especially needed for patients.
September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month, recognizing the ongoing need for blood transfusions among patients living with sickle cell disease, the most common inherited blood disorder in the United States.
According to the Red Cross, giving blood can help patients with sickle cell disease and other serious medical conditions continue to receive the lifesaving transfusions they depend on.
Individuals 17 years or older that weigh at least 110 pounds are eligible to give blood. To make an appointment to give blood, visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter zip code 21201. A Red Cross blood donor card, driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.
