If your kids have never seen a solar or lunar eclipse, listen up! It’s important to know how to view them safely, but doing so will be an opportunity not to miss, as they don’t happen very often—and this spring, families will have the opportunity to see not one, but two eclipses!
The Benjamin Banneker Planetarium, located at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) in Catonsville, will prep eclipse viewers on March 22 ahead of the penumbral lunar eclipse on March 25 and the solar eclipse on April 8 with a planetarium show called “Two Eclipses in Two Weeks” for adults and children over the age of 8. After the presentation at 8 p.m., weather permitting, the group will gather to observe the night sky.
To get the little ones excited for the scientific phenomena they will see, the planetarium is also hosting a children’s show called “Boynton the Space Bunny Goes to Another Solar System” at 10 a.m. on March 23. Kids can imagine what it would be like to travel to another solar system like Boynton the Bunny.
Both shows are free, and will be held at the planetarium, in Room 030A in the Mathematics and Science Hall building at CCBC.
