Whether your children have a casual interest in these team sports or foresee a career in professional leagues such as the NFL or WNBA, they can learn all there is to know about tossing a ball around–with their feet, into a hoop, with a bat, over a net or across a field with these options from our April 2022 sports directory.

Roland Park Baseball Leagues, one of the oldest youth baseball organizations in the United States, in operation since 1952, began as an independent league thanks in part to a former Baltimore Oriole, Merwin W. “Jake” Jacobsen. Now it comprises five leagues of ages 5-15 and 11  travel teams. More than 800 children participate.

Play basketball at this community club in Windsor Mill with 16 hoops. Twin Lakes Racquet and Hoops Club offers lessons, private reservations and clinics. All ages are welcome.

Serving the Central Maryland region, with rosters from Howard, Anne Arundel, Carroll County, Baltimore and Prince George’s counties, Strive Volleyball Club follows a long tradition of the sport under the name Firebird Volleyball Club since 2010. New management and a name change in 2017 ushered in a team-first mentality.

Families seeking faith-based athletics can enroll their child in indoor soccer or fall and spring outdoor soccer as early as age 3 at the Christian Athletic Association in Catonsville. Founded in 1985, the program focuses on building character and deepening relationships through competition and training.

Baltimore’s youth football and academic program for ages 4-14 and cheerleading squad for girls ages 7-14 aim to build skills in competitive, organized sports, regardless of size or ability. The physical, technical and disciplinary skills players learn through Baltimore Terps will be beneficial on and off the field.
