Parent You Should Know: Laurie Rosen

What is Moms on a Mission?
It’s a combination of a mom’s night out, where we can do a little bit of good in the community, help out different organizations and have that social piece and connect with other moms in the community who have kids of similar ages.

What’s the hardest part about juggling both parenthood and your career?
I would definitely say time management and organization. I often find myself trying to balance my kids’ needs with those of my business and making sure everything is taken care of.

What makes trying to balance both easier?
A supportive husband! My husband is a dentist with his own career, but we are 50-50 partners as parents. I am with the kids more during the day, but once he comes home, he is engaged with the kids, which gives me a little break. We both know we can lean on each other for extra support when needed, and I feel truly lucky to have him.

What do you love about being a parent?
I love spending time with my kids and creating good humans. Teaching them different skills, watching them hit milestones and seeing them develop their own unique personalities and interests are the best feelings.

How has your family been handling the pandemic?
We have been doing pretty well. We enjoy the extra time together, and it has given my husband and me a new perspective on our kids. Our kids are thriving because they have everything they need: family, friends (their pods), love and, of course, plenty of snacks.

What do you hope your children learn from you and your career?
You can do it all. Never give up. Give it your all, and you can accomplish anything you put your mind to.

Meal: Anything I don’t cook … pizza and Greek salad
Dessert: Make-your-own ice cream sundae bar
Book to read together: Anything by Mo Willems
Way to spend a weekend with your children: Spending time outside exploring nature. The pandemic has changed how we spend our weekends. We went on 30 different hikes last spring when school closed, and we spend a lot of time outdoors, even in the cold. We enjoy lots of arts and crafts, baking and movie nights on the couch.
Vacation spot: Naples, Florida, and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware
