Thanks to a $5 million Sherman Family Foundation gift this spring, big changes are coming to family programs at the BSO in 2025 and 2026.
In the 2025-25 school year, students will see a fifth day added to the BSO’s after-school program, with a sixth added in in subsequent years; a new choral program; a performance track with private lessons; side-by-sides and advanced instruments to better position kids on a musical career path.
A new Sherman Family Foundation BSO Family Collection will make family programming part of a more visible, evergreen collection of programming, including:
• 30-minute Music Box concerts for babies and toddlers as young as 6 months
• Family Concerts with themes for ages 4 to 8 (enhanced with sensory-friendly pre-concert activities and now $10 for all ages)
• New behind-the-scenes Symphony Explorers experiences for ages 8+
A group of two adults and four kids will be able to get free tickets to all Music Box and Family Concerts for an annual $60 fee and special discounts to other BSO shows.
The fee will be waived for Baltimore City Head Start and Baltimore City Public Schools students.
