Local Radio Station Hosts Family-Friendly Show for Indie Music Lovers

Kids up early on Saturday mornings? Keep them—and yourself—entertained with a brand-new radio show aimed at kids and their parents with a discerning ear.

Local Radio Station WTMD (FM 89.7) proudly presents Young at Heart. This hour-long show runs from 7 am to 8 am on Saturday mornings and is hosted by local musician Lisa Mathews, lead singer of the Grammy-nominated kids rock band Milkshake. Mathews will play tunes from national alt-rock and indie musicians like Wilco and They Might Be Giants. Plus, each week she’ll profile artists well-known in the indie music circuit who have put out kid-friendly albums.

“Adults may remember Lisa Mathews from the ’90s alt-rock band Love Riot, while children of all ages know her award-winning work with the band Milkshake,” says Scott Mullins, WTMD’s general manager/program director. “With her new show, Young at Heart, Mathews brings that full experience to create a show that appeals to both kids and adults, and that is no easy feat.”
