Explore Music and Dance at the Peabody Preparatory this summer!

Explore music and dance at the Peabody Preparatory this summer! Whether you’re a beginner, a hobbyist, or pursuing serious study, we have something for you. Our weeklong specialty music and dance programs provide a fun yet focused space to hone your craft or try something new, private lessons provide a wonderful opportunity to continue your progress or pick up a new skill, and group classes combine the joy of learning with the fun of meeting new friends.

From June 17 through August 9 at our downtown Baltimore campus, we offer a variety of Specialty Summer Programs in strings, piano, guitar, and dance, as well as cross-departmental offerings such as the Baltimore BeatLab, a week-long immersion for aspiring producers and beatmakers, and the Peabody Innovation and Music Academy, a combination of technical, creative, composition, and improvisational training alongside leadership, communication, and large ensemble skills. These are programs for all ages! Adults are encouraged to attend Piano at Peabody, a week-long celebration tailored for adults dedicated to the art of piano playing, or to immerse themselves in the mastery of classical guitar with the Summer Guitar Intensive. Students as young as six are welcome to join Peabody Youth Guitar Week and Allegro Strings and the Summer Dance Intensive is open to dancers ages seven to eighteen. You can see the complete list of our summer programs and more individual program information at peabody.jhu.edu/prepsummer.

In addition to our Specialty Summer Programs, we also offer private lessons, group classes, and Preparatory instruction throughout the summer.

Private lessons during the summer are offered in six- and eight-pack options to accommodate your summer travel plans. Available both in-person and online, there are lessons for all instruments and voice. You’ll be matched with the perfect instructor to help you reach the next level in your training or get you started on an instrument you have always wanted to try.

Group classes run for six weeks and are available in the areas of dance, voice, strings, guitar, chamber music, music and dance for young children, musicianship, and music theory. Students in group classes learn important ensemble skills while being able to study with friends.

Preparatory instruction is a transformative experience where students learn from accomplished instructors who nurture talent and build confidence, surrounded by other artists and young artists-in-training. Classes tend to fill up early so sign up today!
