Farm to Chef Maryland Goes Virtual for 2020
Annual fundraiser for TasteWise Kids pivots amid pandemic, raises money for food education programming for school-aged kids

WHERE: Ticket holders will be given a Zoom link with a unique access code.
WHEN: Monday, October 5th 7:00 – 8:00 PM – kids and families welcome!

TasteWise Kids’ annual fundraiser, Farm to Chef Maryland, is going virtual this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The mission of the non-profit, to inspire kids to explore and experience the world of food and its sources, is still incredibly important during these trying times. The funds raised from this event will go to TasteWise Kids’ signature program, Days of Taste, which teaches fourth graders about the elements of taste and the journey of food from farm to table, and aid in continuing their mission during remote learning this fall.

This virtual competition will take place with a spin, taking a cue from binge-worthy TV cooking competitions and ticket holders will have access to the show via a private Zoom link. The competition itself will be taped at Baltimore Chef Shop in Hampden.

Two-person Baltimore area teams featuring chefs with diverse backgrounds and skill sets will vie for a spot in the cooking competition. Through online voting via Tastewisekids.org/voting, fans will vote for which team they want to see in the head to head event up until Sept. 12. The top two chef teams with the most votes by customers, followers and fans, will proceed to the competition, and present a complete entree. The entree will be made with ingredients selected from a bountiful pantry stocked by Maryland farmers and makers. The key will be the successful and best use of one star mystery ingredient, to be revealed at the start of the cooking challenge.

For the first time ever, Farm to Chef Maryland is kid-friendly, and family ticket packages will be available for purchase. Ticket tiers are as follows, and early bird tickets for the Fan and Family options are available until Sept. 18:
