Chesapeake Life Center will once again offer several day programs for youth ages 6 to 18 this summer. Through art, play, conversations and support, children and teens will learn new ways to cope with the difficult task of grieving while learning they are not alone.

A children’s grief day camp for ages 6 to 12 will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 31 and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 1 on the Hospice of the Chesapeake’s John & Cathy Belcher Campus in Pasadena. Kids will get to know each other on Friday night, then return the next day to explore their grief, learn tools to manage it and have a lot of fun. The cost is $50.

Special Needs: PreK enrichment, social groups, art/fine motor, gross motor, speech, picky eaters, music, science, sports, engineering/building, space.

Celebrating 27 years! Bayside is where your child (ages 4-15) create a camp experience that is unique to them. Some play sports all day, others choose to be on or near the water, fishing, crabbing or canoeing/padleboarding. Others prefer to mix it up and try one of the 35+ activities offered each week. Operated at Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis, with optional bus transportation around the county. Extended hours available.

A one of a kind music camp for children who love to sing! Music & Imagination Summer Day Camp features singing, dancing & crafts on the campus of Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore. Children learn and use the solfa method of reading music and sing choral repertoire. Taught by Kodály trained counselors, this fun-filled week includes puppet musicals, folk dancing, singing games, and outdoor activities. All children participate in a performance the last day of camp. Snacks and materials provided. Camp tuition is $175 for the week. A three week performing arts camp in residence on the Essex campus of The Community College of Baltimore County. Campers produce a fully staged musical theatre production for presentation to family and friends.

Camp Attaway is a summer recreation program for children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. The campers come with a variety of difficulties/diagnoses ranging from poor peer and family relations, ADHD, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, high functioning autism, oppositional defiant disorder, and problems with expressing feeling and coping appropriately.

Camp Inclusion is a summer day camp for any student with and without a cognitive, social, or physical disability.

At Camp Inclusion, campers participate in many group games and sports such as soccer, kickball, and handball. Campers also participate in art & crafts activities such as tie-dye and painting, as well as developmentally appropriate board games. Games are age appropriate and adapted for all needs.

Camp Inclusion is run primarily by high school and college age students with a desire to study special education. This creates an unmatched social environment that allows students to be themselves and create bonds between other campers and counselors while in a safe, structured environment.

Camp Inclusion offers a 3:1 camper: staff/volunteer ratio at all times. This ensures that all students are sufficiently supervised while creating many social opportunities.

The teens’ grief camp, Camp Phoenix, will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 15 at Terrapin Adventures at Historic Savage Mill at 8600 Foundry St. By using team building exercises and other activities to help them get to know each other, teens ages 13 to 18, will find a space where the many emotions of grief are met with care and compassion. Professional counselors offer the expertise to support these teens as they navigate grief while having fun and discovering they are not alone. The cost is $40.

At Children’s Manor and Childrens Magnet Montessori Schools, our Summer Program curriculum is based on weekly themed activities, enrichment programs, and field trips to engage children in a fun, educational way. Research has shown that summer learning loss (the loss of skills and knowledge over long summer breaks) can impact students of all ages. Educational summer programs such as what we offer can play an important role in combating this decline in skills and knowledge. Our summer program runs for 9 weeks beginning June 27, 2020.

The interactive workshop experience offers a safe space for children to explore their grief, make friends and have fun. The cost is $40.
