Friday

There’s not much that is more quintessentially American than cowboys and the Wild West. So, start your Independence Day celebrations early with Wild West Fun Night at the Y of Central Maryland. With fun activities, campfire snacks—trail mix and s’mores!—and a wild west photo booth, your kids will be having a rip-roaring good time. Free. 5:30-7 p.m. at the Y of Central Maryland locations.

Saturday

These are the droids you’re looking for! Once a month, the American Visionary Arts Museum invites kids (aged 7 and up) to drop-in for a creative workshop. This month, it’s robots! Kids will create their own robots out of recycled and found objects at the Recycled Bot Shop. Tickets: $5. 1-4 p.m. at the American Visionary Arts Museum.

Now in its 40th year, the Baltimore African American Festival is a celebration of life, music and culture. Check out the more than 150 artist and vendor booths, contests, cultural exhibits and awesome entertainment, along with some truly fantastic guests—Common, Estelle and Vivica Fox just to name a few! Free. July 2-3 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Go old school in your patriotic celebrations at Fort McHenry this weekend with the Twilight Tattoo Ceremony. There will be a concert by the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps and Continental Color Guard along with a pageant of soldiers, play of “taps” and folding of the 30 by 42 foot replica flag. Tickets: $10. 2 p.m. at Fort McHenry.

Sunday

Dance your way to Lithuania, or at least to the Lithuanian Folk Dance Festival this Sunday at Royal Farms Arena. With nearly 2,000 dancers from across the world performing together in traditional dress, this event only happens once every four years, so don’t miss out! Tickets: $25-55. 1 p.m. at Royal Farms Arena.
