The Kennedy Krieger Institute is once again holding a conference on understanding and learning about autism. “The Power of Connectivity” will be held Oct. 24 to 25 at the Sheraton in Towson and is open to family members, health care professionals, educators, researchers and anyone looking to learn more about the autism spectrum. Conference-goers can engage with autism experts, ask questions and help build a bridge from what is not known to what is known about autism.
The opening keynote speaker will be Cathy Pratt, the director of the Indiana Resource Center for Autism and who recently became director of the Indiana School Mental Health Initiative, an organization that works through school communities to raise awareness about mental health services and provide them to students and families who need them. She is a past board chair of the national Autism Society.
The closing keynote speaker will be Amy Gravino, founder/president of A.S.C.O.T. Coaching, which connects college students on the spectrum with college coaches. Gravino has served on the Awareness Committee for Autism Speaks and the Self-Advocate Advisory Board for the Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation. She also has participated in a United Nations panel for the observance of World Autism Awareness Day.
