99 Days of Summer!

There are 99 days of summer and 99 opportunities to do something fun. Here are a few ideas for this week.

June 10: Plan a berry or fruit picking outing. Visit pickyourown.org for a list of pick-your-own farms, conveniently listed by county.

June 11: Since you’ve picked fresh fruit, why not bake a pie?

June 12: It’s never too late to break in a baseball or softball glove. Dear Evan Hansen fans swear by the “shaving cream, rubber bands, mattress” system, but you can also get your glove steamed at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

June 13: Plan a tea party, and provide sugar cubes and cookies.

June 14: International Bath Day is June 14, which is the perfect excuse to purge icky or broken bath toys and introduce a few new ones to the mix. Bath toys don’t have to be expensive or elaborate. Most kids love stacking cups of various sizes, kitchen items like measuring cups and spoons, or plastic action figures or rubber duckies. Bath time also provides an opportunity to sit with your kids and chat, wash their hair and form it into funny styles, tell stories or jokes and let them splash around and unwind before your bedtime routine.

June 15: Make s’mores!

June 16: Take advantage of summer kids’ movie programs at local theaters. (visit regmovies.com, amctheatres.com, cinemark.com and horizoncinemas.com to learn about participating theatres and movie schedules)
