events_thanksgivingPort Discovery Children’s Museum hosts a weekend of Thanksgiving fun for the whole family that runs this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Families can take part in music, art and more.

Friday’s fun includes making Thanksgiving Gobble Hats so the kids can gobble like Turkeys. Attendees can make cereal art, take part in singing, movement and finger plays with award-winning early literacy program Mother Goose on the Loose and Circle Time. Those 3 and under can learn rhythm through singing and clapping at Jingle Jangle Music Time, and other kids can sing some post-Thanksgiving tunes with Mister Don’s Music. And of course, no Thanksgiving fun is complete without the opportunity to create a colorful turkey.

The fun continues Saturday with more turkey hats and cereal art. Attendees can make a crafty turkey plate and sing and dance at Thankful Circle Time. Those 6 and under can learn some poses during Life on Yoga Mountain, Mr. Norman will lead sing-alongs of old time favorites, and kids can create their own plays using children’s books, puppets, costumes and props.

The weekend wraps up Sunday with a hands-on percussion garden where participants can try out a variety of instruments. There’s more singing and dancing at Thankful Circle Time and Jingle Jangle Music Time. Mother Goose on the Loose is back, kids can create colorful turkeys and enjoy the art of Kamishibai, Japanese Paper Theater that combines storytelling and illustration.

Tickets are $14.95 per person per day; members and guests ages 2 and under are free. For tickets and activity times, visit www.portdiscovery.org.
