The collection presents an overview of world art from pre-dynastic Egypt to 20th-century Europe, and counts among its many treasures Greek sculpture and Roman sarcophagi; medieval ivories and Old Master paintings; Art Deco jewelry and 19th-century European and American masterpieces.
Special Workshops
ArtKids Preschool
Ages 3-5, 1st Tues. & Wed., 1st & 2nd Sat./month, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m., Registration required.
Parent and child will use all their senses during this hands-on experience that combines a story chosen for its theme, a short tour, and an art activity.

Drop-In Art Activities

Recommended for ages 3 and up and their families. Every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
No registration required. Drop-in, make, and take a fantastic piece of art home with you based on monthly themes. Join museum educators as they help families create artful projects related to the collection, special exhibitions, and family programs.
Family Art Center at The Walters
Open during Museum Hours
Features dress-up area, a castle and puppet play, games and puzzles, a reading corner, a collector’s cabinet with touch objects, and a knight. Perfect introduction for young children not ready for a museum tour. Also computer kiosks where families can play “Waltee’s Quest: The Case of the Lost Art.”
